Alejandro Martinez, Jr. - Director of Testing Services, Texas A&M International University

I have been the Director of Testing Services at Texas A&M International University for 24 years. I have full charge of working with our budget and managing the center to its fullest potential. Although both being difficult and challenging, it is an important part of my job description and I have been successful in carrying out this charge. Making certain that all the expenses and the daily operations of the center are taken care of is a challenge. It’s a challenge I’ve enjoyed. The Testing Center offers an array of exams from TSI, TExES, GRE, TOEFL to proctored exams. This has allowed to have open communications with several of the vendors many of are familiar with.

I’ve been involved with TACTP since 1998 and have attended nearly every conference since. As an active member. I have served as President, Secretary and Parliamentarian for the Texas Association of Collegiate Testing Personnel (TACTP). This has allowed me to work closely with board members and the membership. It has allowed me to gain an insight as to the needs of the membership.

In addition, I am an active member of NCTA. For the last three years, I served as Treasurer and currently serve on the Outreach and Growth Committee as a volunteer. Working closely with the NCTA board members and the membership has allowed me to gain insight of the needs in the testing world at the national level.

I have presented at both TACTP and NCTA as well as College Board. In addition I co-presented with ETS.

It is with great aspiration that I would like to see TACTP grow. Therefore, I’d like to serve on the board. I believe part of the growth can and will happen as others become aware of the importance of the TACTP brand, resources and strong network available to everyone in the Texas testing profession. TACTP is a wonderful facet for members to connect and share their experiences - an important step in the growth process. Having served on TACTP and being part of the discussions with the changes in the educational system in Texas, I believe I can continue taking the TACTP brand to a higher level with the testing industry. I am excited about using my skills to advance the TACTP and I applaud the current board on a job well done.

I look forward to giving back the TACTP as much as possible and serve in any way that I may be needed.
